Skiing

At the entrance to the village on the road from St Jeoire, take the first left turn signposted to "Les Chenevieres". After only a few hundred metres, you will find the four place chair lift which takes you directly to 1600m altitude, and the "Pointe des Brasses". From here, you can access the whole of the "Les Brasses" ski area.

Cross Country Skiing

If you prefer cross country skiing or, a walk in the forests on snow shoes, then you can also access the "Plaines Joux" area (1250 m altitude) which has miles of marked trails to follow.

Mountain Biking and Cycling

In the summer, the trails are used by mountain bikers, walkers and runners, who all enjoy some of the most picturesque areas of the Haute Savoie region. If you prefer cycling down mountains rather than up them, every thursday afternoon you can take your bike on the ski lift at Onnion or Habere Poche, and enjoy the thrill of coming down without the effort of pedalling up ! For the serious road cyclist, there are many marked routes which, if you wish, can take you on some of the best climbs in the Tour De France - Joux Plane (Sameons - Joux Plane - Morzine) being one of the toughest (http://perso.orange.fr/l.maison/jouxplane/english.htm). Tour De France climbs nearby are La Clusaz - Col du Aravis (18 km), Le Grand Bornand - Col de la Columbiere (43 km), and Samoens - Joux Plane (29 km).

Climbing, Parapenting and Gliding

The more adventurous visitors can indulge in climbing on the the "Rocher Blanc" (on the left as you arrive at Plaines Joux) wich will give you some challenging ascents. If that doesn't get enough adrenaline flowing, then how about paragliding or even gliding ? This way you can view the region from the air ! Of course, you will be accompanied by an expert instructor - no one expects you to launch off yourself without some instruction !

Paragliding
The apartment is located only 15 minutes drive from the famous Mieussy take-off. You can also fly from the mountain behind the apartment. Most of the other flying sites are no more than 45 minutes drive away. These include Morzine, Avoriaz, Les Gets, Samoens, Flaine and Le Grand Bornand etc.The furthest is Chamonix that is reached by motorway in 1 hour.

Water Sports

Onnion has its own municipal heated outdoor pool which opens mid June. The pool is very popular and provides a safe and fun area in which children & adults can enjoy the sunshine after a hard day's cycling or walking. There is excellent fishing available in the whole Haute Savoie area and for the really serious water and mountain lovers there is gorge walking/climbing/descending !

Overall, the area has something for averyone, both winter and summer.
